CHRIS Field feels 2015 can be another year of much success following the New Year’s Day victory over struggling Chasetown.
Field wrapped up the 2-0 win over the Scholars with Tivi’s second goal of the afternoon after good work from Nigel Penney and Deqwon Ebanks to claim three points the 27 year old believes were richly deserved.
“We thoroughly deserved to win the game, there’s no doubt about it.
“I thought we started the game well.
“We needed to start the game at a high tempo, create some chances and try to get the early goal.
“Luckily, we did that.”
The former Causeway United star filled in at right-back due to the absence of Andrew Parsons and enjoyed playing in the Tividale backline.
“It’s all about the team”
I was pleased with my performance and it was never going to be an issue as I’m familiar with the role anyway.
“But, I prefer to play in a more advanced role up the pitch and it was nice to get the goal today which finished off a fantastic counter attacking move.”
Field, who was named 2013-14 player of the season, has praised teammate Leigh Downing who bagged a brace on Boxing Day in the win at Sutton and struck the free-kick that led to Tividale’s opening goal yesterday.
“Leigh has done well in the last two games.
“His free-kick struck the post and luckily for us it dropped in the right place for Danny (Ashton) to finish.
“Both Leigh and Nigel Penney have done well of late and we know they are good players.”
‘Dale now face a trip to Leicestershire for the game with Coalville Town tomorrow (KO 15:00) and Field wants Tivi to build on their past two performances.
“It’s another tough game but an opportunity for us to continue what we’ve been doing in the past two matches.
“We beat the league leaders away from home on Boxing Day and we shouldn’t feel the need to fear any team in this league.
“We’ve proved that we can compete, pose problems and score goals – we need to believe that we can beat anybody and hopefully we can pick up another positive result.”
