Helllooo and welcome to this week’s edition of From Communications Corner, I trust you’re all well?

Well those first three points are on the board for the first team, and there’s a sense of relief around the building.

It’s not easy when you remain without a point, particularly after the three opening games, and you begin to wonder when those elusive points will come your way.

I thought we dominated the opening period against Rugby on Tuesday night, deserved to be 2-0 ahead at half-time but we let our concentration slip just after the break and the visitors took fully advantage to level the score.

But you have to take your hat off to the players because it would have been very easy for them to think ‘here we go again’, particularly given what happened against Shaw Lane Aquaforce on the opening day of the season.

The players showed composure, showed they can take responsibility, got their heads down and claimed what was a hard earned victory. Well done to Ross, Phil and the players. Top job!

We are in FA Cup action this weekend at The Beeches against Hanley Town with a terrific incentive of playing a Black Country Derby in the First Qualifying Round against Stourbridge, which will also be on home turf.

Before I finish on the football side, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish our Groundsman, Ted Wood, all the best following his fall last weekend. Get well soon mate!

Off the field, I thought the AGM was excellent last Thursday night and thanks to everyone who attended. Although we still have work to do, I think it’s quite clear that we are making significant strides, particularly off the field.

Can I take this opportunity to welcome John Goudge on the Tividale Football & Social Club committee.

I’ve had a lot of dealings with John, particularly from when negotiations started with Buildbase regarding sponsorship. John will bring vast experience to the table, and it means he now needs to obey Club policy 🙂

And finally, Glambuster return to the stage on Saturday night as part of Bank Holiday weekend, and believe me they are awesome. They’ll be on stage from 20:00 onwards so see you then!

See you at the bar, Submariners!

Steven.
