Morning and welcome to this week’s edition of From Communications Corner! Hope you’re well? Yes? That’s grand.
Been a difficult seven days for myself away from here, but I’m back now and fully focused ahead of this weekend’s fixture with Belper Town in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League, First Division South at The Beeches.
Last Saturday at Lincoln. Okay, we’ll move on….
No, in all seriousness, it was an extremely poor performance. No point dwelling on it, though, and we need to respond as a collective team this Saturday, both on and off the field.
Sunday I went out in Birmingham with the new Mrs B, she banned any talk of Lincoln United went we went to the bar and ordered our lunch. I had planned it before she returned home from Dubai last Thursday and I went with the mindset that no football was allowed to be mentioned.
At least I thought….
All of a sudden, I heard a voice from behind me in the Slug & Lettuce in Brindley Place – it was Dave Smith (Under 21’s Manager, Bromsgrove Sporting).
“Steveo, my lad, not great yesterday, was it?,” he said. So I reply: “Dave, good to see you, now let me enjoy my steak and move on somewhere else.” He took it in good heart, to be fair, and Mrs B was relieved, too, adding: “I thought you were going to start talking transfers, ground grading, formations, and all that jazz…..AGAIN!”
So Sunday was good, it was good to get away from the day prior – I was thinking about it all night long and it’s not a nice feeling.
The only good part of Saturday night was when the coach returned back at The Beeches and I went upstairs to find ‘Baby Love’ vocalists behind the door with curlers in their hair! Not bad, hey? 🙂
Sponsorship wise, I mentioned last week we were in negotiations with potential parties regarding deals until the summer of 2017.
I’m pleased to report those discussions have continued and I’m expecting to make a positive announcement sometime next week. It’s what we need, and hopefully we will be able to strengthen the squad accordingly.
I mentioned ‘Baby Love’, weren’t they great Saturday night. Great trio. And what a treat we have in store for you this weekend. BORN JOVI return to Tividale Football & Social Club so I’ll see you for another packed night in the Club.
See you at the bar, Submariners!
