Clocks going forward this weekend?

Means it’s that time of the year when we start our end of season run-in on the field before those boring Summer months with no Football, or Sunshine (9 times out of 10).

I was driving my way into work here @TiviFCofficial on Tuesday and the Spring-like, picturesque evening reminded me of everything I’d missed about Tividale before returning in November (Officially).

Without going into too much detail out of respect for both myself and the others concerned, I had a strong near on 5 year affinity with Tividale and the surrounding area from 2008-2012 and those times have never once left me, and they never will, either.

The people are fantastic, the way I’ve been welcomed here by the locals at Tividale Football & Social Club since returning has been fantastic and long may it continue.

Right, this week’s edition of From Communications Corner has much less from the Football perspective than in general.

No midweek game? What? Never? Couple of beers in front of the TV from 20:00 onwards on Tuesday night was order of the day, and boy was it needed.

Last Saturday’s game with Brigg was comfortable throughout, but very frustrating at the same time. I’m sure you heard Ian Long’s comments on the Audioboom interview with myself and he was 100% correct. Three points but nothing to shout about by any stretch of the imagination, was it, really?

Some may say “you’re never happy, you won and it’s three points” but hey, we’re better than that in general and our players very rarely let us down in the way of performance.

One off? Yes. Let’s move onto this weekend where we will be reducing admission prices across the board as part of the Non-League Weekend.

No Barclays Premier League, No Sky Bet Championship.

WhatsApp your mates, send carrier pigeon if need be but come down and enjoy the game and Sunshine (hopefully) with prices of £5 Adults, £3 for all normal concessions & just to £1 OAP members for our game with Stocksbridge Park Steels in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, Division One South.

You know it’s the right thing to do 🙂

Regarding Tividale Academy, I’m delighted that we managed to agree an initial year long sponsorship deal with Topps Tiles, as exclusively revealed on @TiviFCofficial, tividalefc.com and our Facebook page last Thursday at 12:00.

This is a big step in the right direction for the Academy and myself, alongside others, working tremendously hard to secure a long-term principle sponsorship deal for the first team, too, and hopefully we will be able to announce some positive news regarding that very important project, sooner rather than later.

It’s not easy, and I’m really pleased we’ve managed to secure such a high profile company for the Academy as a sponsor because Topps Tiles’ support for Youth Football nationwide is terrific. This can only benefit our primary objective of developing our own players who can potentially feature in our first team in future years, like Shaq Leachman-Whittingham and Desean Martin have already proved so far this season.

Entertainment wise, I thought Cover 2 Cover were excellent last Saturday night and I hope you enjoyed the evening just as much as I did…..even though I’d had one or two too many (don’t tell anyone, that’s our secret unless you’d already noticed, of course!).

See you at the bar, Submariners!

Steven.
