IAN Long praised the professionalism of his players following the 2-0 victory over Brigg Town at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
Brigg had only managed to take 11 points from their 34 games in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, Division One South before Saturday’s encounter but Long insists that Tivi had to remain focused to bring back all three points to the Black Country courtesy of goals from Jamie King and Karl Edwards.
He said “It was a very good result and a professional performance. Although Brigg are bottom of the table, it didn’t mean to say we just had to turn up to win.
“We picked up the three points we targeted and that’s pleasing. I was pleased for Jamie getting his first goal for the club and Karl is well on his way to scoring 20 goals for another season and that’s no mean feat at this level.
“At the other end, the clean sheet was pleasing once again and we managed to rest the likes of Andy (Parsons), Jordan Archer and Richard Huckfield ahead of our very important game on Tuesday night against Chasetown in the Walsall Senior Cup.”
