TIVIDALE boss Ian Long says his players need to “take a long look at themselves” following Saturday’s defeat at the hands of Gresley.
Long, 39, was extremely disappointed with Tivi’s performance, particularly in the opening period and says there needs to be a significant improvement.
He said “I’m extremely disappointed.
“We gave ourselves a mountain to climb once again and basic instructions are not being adhered to, either.
“It’s not the first time that has happened so far this season.”
‘Dale found themselves 2-0 down at the break but were handed a lifeline by Nigel Penney just before the hour mark but Tivi failed to make any further impression on Gresley’s goal, much to the disappointment of Long.
“We needed to create more than we did once Nige had scored, really.
“You need anticipation, rather than reaction in the penalty box.
“And then, their third goal epitomised the whole performance – one long clearance and Steadman is one on one with Charlie.
“Not good enough.”
Tivi now travel to Sutton Coldfield Town on Boxing Day to play on their 3G pitch and Long says his players need to respond.
He added “The 3G surface will be true and we need to get the ball down and play.
“It’s an opportunity to turn their backline and try to pick up some points.”
