IAN Long has expressed his delight at the success of the Tividale Football Quiz held at The Beeches last night.

Long arranged the evening personally and thanked everyone for attending the event as he now prepares to take his side to promotion chasing Spalding Town tomorrow in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South (KO 15:00).

He said “It was an excellent night, I really, really enjoyed it.

“We need more evening’s like that here because it brings revenue into the football club.”

The former Tipton Town manager, 39, hailed the team camaraderie and believes the club is moving in the right direction as as result.

“It was fantastic to get everyone together – players, staff, adacemy players and parents plus members of the social club.

“I think it’s quite evident that we’re all in this together and we all want to move this club forward.”

And Long was particularly impressed by the attendance of the Tividale Academy Under 12’s team, managed by Wayne Mundon.

“Wayne is a good guy and I thank his players and their parents making the effort to turn up to the event – I really appreciate it.

“As a result of that, I have offered to train the U12’S next Wednesday night for a session.

“Hopefully they will learn something from me!!!”

Long is now concentrating on the Spalding game tomorrow and hopes his team can reward everyone by bringing home three more precious points.

“It was a great turn out from the players last night and I hope they enjoyed it but their main priority is winning football matches and they will be fully prepared.

“Let’s hope they do the business and win the game for us all to complete a good week.”
