IAN Long was left to rue the weather once more as heavy snowfall on Friday night put pay to ‘Dale’s game with Romulus at The Beeches on Saturday.

Referee Eddie Smart postponed the fixture just prior to midday and Long was disappointed that yet another game was called off due to the adverse conditions.

He said “It’s a shame but the referee was left with no option.

“With the snow falling on Friday night it was always going to be a problem and our pitch improvements turned out to be immaterial.”

Tivi have now had their last three fixtures at The Beeches postponed in all competitions and the former Tipton Town boss revealed that the first team trained at Bubble Tactics on Saturday afternoon.

“The lads trained at Bubble Tactics – we went there last season at this time of year when the weather was so poor.

“It’s really good fun and great for camaraderie.

The 39 year old is now looking ahead to next weekend’s trip to promotion chasing Spalding United and says his players need to prepare well in training for the trip to Lincolnshire.

“Spalding are a very good team and they currently sit in the top five.

“It’s a long journey, one of the longest we face all season but if we set up well and perform as we did at Sutton and Newcastle then there’s no reason why we can’t take something from the game.”
