Mansfield 1-1 Tividale FC

Today was a top of the table 6 pointer with 1st playing 2nd, Tividale knew a win would move them into top spot.

Tividale started the game on the back foot and it was clear to see the 3 players absent from the squad unsettled the rhythm, however Tividale weathered Mansfield’s storm and Reiss Jeavons made a fantastic save to pull what looked like a certain goal out of the bottom corner to keep it 0-0.

Tividale then stepped up their game and tamed Mansfield, Tividale looked dangerous on the break away with the pace in the squad. Pablo Conte and Shaquille Whittingham were causing all sorts of trouble out wide but Tividale just lacked the final ball.

The crossbar came to our rescue when Terrence Davies gave the ball away cheaply in midfield to keep the score level. Terrence playing in an unfamiliar CM position grew into the game and as the game went on he had a greater influence on the game.

At Half time the management Anthony Hickinbottom and James Wildsmith spoke to the boys about sitting back and being compact and organised and then to break with intent.

Second Half started brightly for Tividale Brian Ncube and Joe Mugalu at Fullback were overlapping and causing a nuisance but yet again we just couldn’t find the final ball.

Mansfield then benefitted from a defensive mix up and Number 11 stroked the ball into an empty Tividale net. From here Tividale could have dropped their heads and folded but this is not the mentality of this team. The lads got their heads up and took the game to Mansfield and from here it was all Tividale.

A great ball from Terrence released Pablo and substitute Roshaun Sinclair who played a 1-2 around the RB to get Tividale a corner. From the resulting corner Roshaun delivered a fantastic ball to the back post which Joe creatively converted into the bottom corner.

Then Tividale really stepped up their game and if it wasn’t for a great save from Mansfield’s goalie and the help of the crossbar Tividale would have taken all 3 points.

Before the game Tividale would have been a happy with a point with the players that where missing however the boys who stepped into the big shoes definitely filled them and gave the management a attitude. So Tividale leave the game with a feeling of 2 points lost instead of 1 point gained.
