Tividale FC 1-1 Rainworth Miners Welfare FC
Tividale struggle as the Miners dig in for a point.
For the second week running Tividale produced a well below par performance against a dogged Rainworth side. It was Tividale that started the better and the Miners had to defend in numbers as they were forced onto the back foot.
Tividale created a host of chances. The firs on 12 minutes when Chris fired wide from a Leigh Downing cross. Field then had another chance five minutes later when he shot over. On 25 minutes Downing fired wide after latching onto a loose ball as the play was exclusively being played in the Rainworth half. David Bellis had a chance on 40 minutes when a poor clearance from Rainworth keeper David Reay found it’s way to him but his long range lob fell onto the roof of the net.

It was role reversal at the start of the second half as Rainworth made the running and in their first effort on goal in the game they were a goal up. On 52 minutes Reay hit a long ball up field and it was headed on Darren Mansarem to strike partner Romaine Graham who then lifted the ball over the advancing Tividale keeper Charlie Price. Mansarem almost got a second but Tividale defender Luke Paskin denied him with a last gasp challenge and then Gino Kelleher tried an effort from distance that Price watched go wide.
From then on Tividale took control of the game again and on 63 minutes Jordan Archer missed a great chance at the near post after Zac Foster had fired in a left wing cross. Foster then sent in a free kick on 69 minutes that Richard Huckfield bundled in but the referee had already blown for a foul on keeper Reay. Reay was then back into action almost immediately after when he saved an Archer header.
Tividale then brought on substitutes Shaquille Leachman-Wittingham and Jamie King and it was Leachman-Wittingham’s cross on 84 minutes that led to the deserved equaliser. His cross was only half cleared and it fell to Bellis on the edge of the box. His shot was going wide but Sam Williams’s deflected header wrong footed Reay and he could only watch it sail into the net.
Rainworth almost snatched a late winner when Leon Osbourne shot wide from inside the box. But in the end it was honors even and Tividale can have no complaints as they had enough chances to win this game twice.
