Carlton Town FC 1-2 Tividale FC

It’s Edwards at the double at Carlton

carlton match

Tividale stretched their unbeaten league run to 9 games with what was a comfortable victory although a look at the score line made it look a lot closer than it actually was.

It was Tividale that dominated the early play and they had their first chance on 6 minutes when Carlton keeper Curtis McDonald  had to be on his mettle to keep out a Nigel Penney effort. Then a minute later McDonald was on hand again to save from Karl Edwards.

The next 15 minutes saw almost unrelenting Tividale pressure but as is so often the case on a rare Carlton attack they took the lead. After some great work from Town’s Aaron Hooton his low cross was tapped home by an unmarked Dan Fletcher at the back post.

If there is one thing we have learned from our first season at this level is that getting that first goal is vital as sides at this level are well organised and know how to defend a lead. So Tividale had to get back into the game and quickly and on 27 minutes McDonald had to be at full stretch to turn an Andy Parsons 25 yard drive over the bar.  6 minutes later on 33 minutes Tividale got there well deserved equaliser when Edwards was played in by Mitchell Botfield and he made no mistake putting the ball past McDonald

Half Time:- Carlton Town 1-1 Tividale FC

The second half started with more visiting pressure and within 4 minutes Tividale had turned the game on it’s head. This time a lovely through ball from Danny Ashton for Edwards un onto and he fired home his and Tividale’s second.

Tividale were now in the ascendancy and could have been further ahead when on 51 minute Botfield saw his effort crash off the Carlton crossbar.

Tividale continued to press for the remainder of the game but could not add to their score and for the second time in 4 days though Tividale keeper Charlie Price had next to nothing to do he had to be on full concentration level when he saved a Hooton header in injury time and so ensured the visitors took away the three points.
