Tividale add another piece of silverware
What a great curtain raiser to the season. The game was played in great spirit and taken very seriously by the two sets of players, especially when you consider the searing heat that in which it was played. Sensibly, a 30 minute drinks break was agreed. Both teams were truly committed and there were no holds barred in the challenges – if anything the officials were a little too lenient, as there may well have been a few cards had it been a league game.
The pace of the first half was relentless, Tividale looking the more menacing, but the visitors looked dangerous on the counter. The only goal of the game came on 42 minutes when a cross from the left was flicked on Jordan Archer who was flattened after the ball was gone, but Nigel Penney was first to react to Jack Pearlman’s centre and drilled the ball home, leaving Quorn keeper Laurie Pearson with no chance.
Right on the stroke of half time Tividale could have doubled their lead when a Danny Holgate bullet header was tipped onto the crossbar by Pearson.

The second half was, as expected played in a slightly more sedate manner and Quorn started to make more of their possession going forward but still could not get any change out of the Tividale back four. They did get close to leveling the scores when a shot from Daniel Bryans came back off the bar. Tividale could have increased their lead in the final minutes but the effort from Matt Jukes was kept out by Pearson’s legs at the near post.
We must mention that the Quorn players and management staff were a credit to the club and we wish you well for next season.
