Stourport Swifts FC 4-0 Tividale FC

Tividale go down by the Riverside

Tividale had to make a number of changes with Nathan Jones, Liam Smith out injured but occupying the bench. And Elliott Hartley, Freddie Watts and keeper Luke Kriskinians all unavailable. With Kriskinians out it meant a debut for Tividale’s 16 year old Youth Team keeper Lewis Handley who joined our other 16 year old, striker Jake Brigdale in the starting line up.

Despite the score line young Luke could not be faulted for any of the goals and from his first touch to his last he looked like a player 10 years his senior and an experienced campaigner. On this performance young Lewis has a bright future in front of him.

After Saturday’s fine performance an ever growing injury list, and unavailability on a Bank Holiday Monday. It may have been inevitable that a below par performance would be on the cards and that is what happened.

The result ensured Swifts avoided relegation this season and apart from a few scares. Swifts had the ball in the back of the Tividale net after just 10 minutes but had it ruled out. They were ahead after 26 minutes, when Aaron Lloyd broke down the left, found Jim Hanson with a cross field pass. Hanson then whipped in his cross and Lloyd was there at the back post to head home past Handley.

Tividale should have drawn level on 33 minutes when from a Darragh Bustin through and a Craig Stevens flick on Brigdale had a shot blocked by Swifts keeper Dominic Richards and Dan Smith’s follow up shot  from point blank was also fired straight at the keeper.

Dan Sweeney made it 2-0 on the stroke of half time when Tividale’s defence completely misjudged the flight of a long ball from Sam Beasley and one on one with Handley, smashed a right foot shot into the bottom corner

Half Time:-Stourport Swifts FC 2-0 Tividale FC.

Tividale started the second half in the worse possible way when Tom Hurdman did well to block a Lloyd shot, but the ball ricocheted off skipper Karl Gardner and flew past a stranded Handley into the back of the net.

Stourport added a 4th on 645 minutes when a great run and low cross from Dan Sweeney across the face of the Tividale goal and found Joe Phillips 4 yards out and who side footed home .
