A club statement reads:
“Tividale Football Club would like to clarify their position regarding the late postponement of last night’s JW Hunt Quarter-Final tie with Sporting Khalsa at The Beeches.
“Having analysed specific areas on the field of play at 16:30 yesterday afternoon, Tividale Football Club made Sporting Khalsa Football Club aware that the playing surface was heavy but most certainly playable and we stand by that notion.
“When match referee, Neil Faunch, arrived at The Beeches last night, he decided the surface wasn’t playable and although Tividale Football Club feel the decision to postpone the fixture was incorrect, we also recognise and appreciate that it’s the match officials’ prerogative to draw those conclusions.
“We have shown diligence regarding pitch inspections throughout this season, both in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League and Cup competitions respectively. Each instance has been communicated in a professional fashion for all concerned, too.
“Tividale Football Club apologise for any inconvenience caused last night and will communicate the rearranged date for the respective fixture in due course.”
