Tividale Joint Manager Ross Thorpe insists he’s looking forward to the 2015-16 campaign, as Dale’s new management team announced their pre-season plans.

Thorpe and Phil Male have been in detailed dialogue with a number of players since the pair were appointed a week ago and the former Alvechurch boss insists that Dale will have a competitive squad when the season starts in August.

He said “When we sat down with Leon and Steven for our initial chat, we knew exactly where we stood and they knew exactly what our feelings were on the situation.

“It was always going to be a strong possibility that most, if not all of the current squad of players would leave this summer, and that’s what we’re indeed left with.

“It’s not an issue, as far as I’m concerned. It’s how we deal with it.

“I’m not about to sit here and try to tell everybody it’s going to be easy, that would be foolish but we have a plan and we believe in our ability to attract the right players with the right attitude to this football club to ensure we’re able to compete next season.”

Dale’s pre-season training will begin on June 30th with the first scheduled friendly away at Paget Rangers on Tuesday, July 14th, and Thorpe confirmed that both he and Male are looking forward to pre-season getting underway.

“We’re talking with players, and we know which of those players will be attending our first training session.

“Our first pre-season friendly is at Paget Rangers and that game will give us an ideal opportunity to start working on our shape.

“Both myself and Phil are confident that we will have a competitive side when the season starts in August and it’s a case of improving the squad week by week once the campaign has started.

“We are fully aware we won’t be the finished article in the opening weeks of the season but we need to pick up points where we can.”
