A unique opportunity for young people to play, train and compete like professional footballers whilst studying has been announced by Tividale FC.
Those in year 11 or aged 16-19 can take advantage of the free football scholarship being delivered by Tividale FC in partnership with Stafford College.
The scholarship is aimed at those who wish to combine progression in football, with an excellent educational package.
Daily training and opportunities to play in the Conference Youth Alliance are available to students on the course. The core modules focus on developing knowledge and understanding of leadership and coaching skills to improve sporting abilities. This course leads to further studies in higher education or employment opportunities such as sports coaching/training and sports development or the opportunities to play for semi-professional/professional clubs.
Players at the academy will play competitive football at the highest standards of youth football by representing Tividale FC in the Football Conference Youth Alliance, British Colleges League & Midland Junior Premier League. Daily training at the academy, plus opportunities for additional training with senior teams will enable players to develop and reach their potential.
Throughout a typical week at the Academy players will take part in around 14 hours of physical activity/football. This will include training and competitive matches. Education sessions will take place daily using laptops/notebooks to complete each task. Tutors will be on hand in order to support students and assist with completing each section of work. A typical day at the academy will include; fitness sessions, strength & conditioning, team sports (i.e. basket ball), classroom session and football training Players will usually depart the academy at 4.30/5pm after a full and busy day.

This course is a fantastic opportunity for talented football players and those interested specifically in coaching football. It will allow you specialise specifically in Football and develop your knowledge and skills in a range of relevant areas, including anatomy, physiology, nutrition, technical skills and athlete lifestyle. As part of this course, you can achieve an awarding body qualification which allows you to relate your football knowledge in a theoretical context to all units. You will access nine hours of training and match play each week as part of the Football Elite Programme. If you decide to ‘top up’ this course to a full BTEC Extended Diploma, you will have the equivalent of three A Levels and be able to apply for a range of Higher Education courses, including degrees, and employment opportunities across the spectrum of professional sport.
You must have a strong link to football either as a player, official or coach. You need at least four GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language. If you have a D grade in GCSE English and/or Maths, you will have the opportunity to take these qualifications alongside your Diploma. If you have E grade or lower, you will be offered Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English.
The Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels, increasing your opportunities for employment and allowing you to progress to a range of university degree courses, such Football Studies or the Foundation degree in Sports Coaching & Fitness. Potential job roles include Sports Coach (Football) in the private or public sector, Event Organiser or Sport Teaching Assistant.
