U12’s finish in style!
CS Colts v Tividale U12s
Tivi’s final MJPL league game of the season saw us travel to Aston University to take on CS Colts.
Conditions were poor with a strong winds and driving rain that thankfully settled as the game got underway.
Tividale started the better and forced three early corners before taking the lead on 8 minutes when some good pressure from midfield saw the ball break for striker Jack Mills, who sprinted for goal and finished well to give the visitors a deserved lead.
A minute later another Tividale corner from Kobe Stewart was headed into the side netting by Ashley Rock from a tight angle as Tividale continued to pile on the early pressure.
On 11 minutes, a Kyle Edwards volley was well saved and an up and under cross come shot a minute later from Tom Edwards hit the crossbar before being gathered by the CS keeper on the goal line.
CS started to come into the game late on in the half and they registered their first chance on 23 minutes when a good run and cross just missed their player who was sliding in at the back post.
On 25 minutes, CS’s tricky striker shot just wide after some good skill and at half time Tividale led.

The second half started more open and Alex Johnson went close from the kick off after a pacey run and shot that was well saved.
Just a minute later, CS equalised after Tividale failed to clear the danger down their left and the cross field pass was put away first time, giving Josh Lee no chance.
CS were beginning to look dangerous now but Tividale were competing well and on 36 minutes they regained the lead after a Spencer Elcock corner was headed in by Tom Edwards at the front post.
On 40 minutes, Kyle had a good effort from distance well saved.
After 44 minutes Tividale put the game to bed with a stroke of good fortune. The hard working Kyle Edwards made a powerful clearance from the half way line that took off in the wind and beat the CS keeper, who was left stranded.
As the team ran off to celebrate, the management reminded the team about opposition respect and the Tividale lads reacted positively and sent words of encouragement to the upset CS goal keeper, which was a real nice touch.
Tividale were now rampant and the classy Jack Mills almost got his second goal after a good turn and shot from the edge of the area flew inches wide.
On 55 minutes a clever reverse through ball from Ashley played in Alex who fired his shot into the side netting as Tividale looked to finish the game in style.
After 57 minutes Tivi finished off in style when an Anthony James corner was headed in by Jack Mills to give him a deserved brace.
A minute later Tom almost got his second with a neat turn and shot that was blocked for a corner.
In the last minute a fantastic block tackle from Kobe prevented CS getting a late consolation and this emphasised the Tividale team’s desire to win on the day.
