LEWIS Wright has urged his Tividale teammates to show steel when they make the trip to the Look Local Stadium to face Yorkshire counterparts Stocksbridge tomorrow afternoon (KO 15:00).

Dale remain at the foot of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League, First Division South table following Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Basford United having taken seven points from their opening twelve fixtures, all of which have come at The Beeches.

But Wright, who scored Tivi’s 65th minute equaliser with a 35 yard strike, believes it’s only a matter of time before the Submariners start picking up points on a regular basis.

“It was always going to be a difficult start for us because we are new to each other,” said the 19-year-old right-back.

“I think we have shown an improvement in our past three games as a team. We played ever so well against West Brom, the Goole game was decided by a penalty and we were very good in the second half on Tuesday night.

“We should have won, really, as we had two or three very good opportunities in the closing stages.”

Park Steels currently lie eleventh in the First Division South table but the former Tipton Town player insists that Dale, who have yet to claim a point on the road so far this season, can upset the odds and bring all three points back to the Black Country.

“At some point our luck has to change on the road, that’s for certain,” added Wright.

“We need to be organised, show resilience and try to keep that elusive clean sheet.

“If we defend well, we have a good chance in any game because we have players at the top end of the pitch who can cause teams problems.

“Mark (Danks), ‘Gregs’ (Richard Gregory), Demetri Brown and ‘Sterls’ (Chris Sterling) are quality forwards. We need to create the chances for them because they will put them away on a regular basis.”
